FAQ

Our vaccination protocol and why we vaccinate:

AVH uses a vaccine protocol based on the guidelines set out by the World Small Animal Health Organization and the by the manufacturers of our vaccines. AVH requires that all pets coming in for surgical procedures like spays and neuters are up to date on vaccines. For further details on our vaccine protocol, please visit our learning centre.

Fleas, Ticks, Lice and Deworming:

AVH recommends yearly deworming as some internal parasites that our pets can have may be passed on to people. We do not have fleas, ticks or heartworm in the north, so there is no need to administer these treatments unless you are travelling south with your pets. We do occasionally see canine lice here, and we carry a range of products to take care of them should the need arise.

Our Pricing:

An exam an AVH costs $100 dollars. Diagnostics and treatment can vary in cost depending on what is needed. Vaccine appointments cost between $150 and $250 dollars depending on which vaccines are needed and if deworming treatments are dispensed. Spay and neuter costs vary depending on the size of the animal and the amount of medications needed.

Wildlife:

If you find sick or injured wild animals, please do not bring them to our clinic. Wild animals can pose significant risks to the health and safety of our domestic clients. Please contact ENR to report sick or injured wild animals or to report any concerns relating to wildlife *Link and phone number for ENR*

Report a lost or found dog:
